ScriptShark's Advance Development Pack Overview [+]
For the writer with a set process and a few scripts already under their belt, ScriptShark has created the Advance Dev Pack, aimed at assisting and supporting the writer through the writing process, and in honing and perfecting of their screenplay's execution. With an emphasis on in-depth draft-to-draft development and a goal of creating a winning final draft, Advance Dev Packs mimic the sort of writing practices a writer would nurture with a producer or development exec in the industry environment.
To purchase an Advance Dev Pack, simply add the service to your cart and proceed to check out. Once you have placed your order online, a ScriptShark representative will contact you to commence your development process and determine the analyst most suitable to support you.
ScriptShark's Advance Development Pack FAQ [+]
How do I know if an Advance Dev Pack is right for me?
Advance Dev Packs have been created for the experienced writer with a set writing process, who has the tools to create that all-important first draft, and requires assistance, guidance and ongoing support in taking the script from a rough first draft to a tight, focused and compelling final draft. Ideally, an Advance Dev Pack writer would have already written a couple of screenplays on their own, and would be seeking a development-oriented process stemming from the material brought to the table. If you are not sure which Dev Pack is right for you, contact us at ScriptShark@blssi.com for further assistance.
Is buying a Dev Pack like working with a script consultant?
In many ways, it is. Purchasing a development pack is a cost-effective alternative to working with costly script consultants, whose fees are usually in the thousands. Additionally, when you use a ScriptShark analyst in the development of your screenplay, you not only benefit from their years of writing experience, but also from their experience within the industry, and their ability to both gauge its temperature and sense its current trends.
How is a Pack better than a consultant?
A Pack is different in a variety of ways. As mentioned above, Development Packs offer a variety of reasonable prices, allowing the writer to work with hands-on support without bearing the burden of a steep price tag. Additionally, because Scriptshark works with a carefully-selected group of professional analysts, a writer is not limited to a single person's preferences and sensibilities, which may not work well with their writing style or aspirations. Should a writer become dissatisfied with their analyst, they may select a new analyst with the assistance o af ScriptShark representative. This may occur no more than twice, and the new analyst will pick up where the previous analyst left off. Furthermore, consultants often opt to change their line of work without consideration to their writing clients. Because ScriptShark has assembled a stable of capable professionals, a writer will never be left without the support and follow-through that the writing process demands.
So how does it work?
Once you have placed your order for an Advance Dev Pack you will be contacted by ScriptShark to discuss your analyst. Once your analyst has been selected, the development process may commence. As you complete the materials associated with your Dev Pack, you will forward them to ScriptShark, who will then forward those on to your analyst. All communications with your analyst will be coordinated by ScriptShark.
Do I get to choose my analyst?
After discussing your needs with the director of ScriptShark.com, you will be recommended 2-3 analysts, of which you will select the person most desirable for you to work with.
Does the Pack ever expire?
No.
What if I take a long time from draft to draft?
ScriptShark encourages writers to take all the time they need to bring their work to its best, most focused and cohesive level, so take as much time as you need, and we will be here once you are ready to submit your work to your analyst.
What if my analyst decides to change their line of work and is no longer available when I turn in a draft?
Because ScriptShark works with a plethora of well-regarded industry professionals, you will never be left without an analyst. Should your analyst no longer be available when you are ready to turn in a new draft, you will be assigned a new analyst, who will be familiar with all of the previous notes and input you were given, and instructed on the development of your material, in order to ensure a seamless and constructive transition.
Can I change analyst in the middle of my Pack if I am not happy with them?
Yes. If you find that the analyst you are working with is not helping you develop your screenplay in the fashion that you would like, you may request to change analysts up to 2 times. A change of analyst will be based on analyst availability, and done with ScriptShark's input and consultation. However, should you choose to change analysts, the new analyst will pick up the process where the previous analyst left off.
If I buy a Dev Pack, does that guarantee that the script will be good once I'm done with it?
No. While an analyst can help guide you towards a cohesive, focused and winning screenplay, the success or failure of a screenplay is, ultimately, in the writing. Therefore, while an analyst will do all they can to support you in your writing endeavors, it is up to you, the writer, to create and mold a successful screenplay.
