30-Minute Coverage Consultation Call Overview  [+]

ScriptShark's Coverage Consultation Services have been created for writers seeking to conduct live, interactive discussions regarding the coverage garnered by their material, as well as the opportunity to brainstorm the material's further development, with their analyst. This service is appropriate for writers developing feature film, literary and television projects.

During the consultation session, the writer may ask questions regarding comments made in their coverage reports (whether it be for feature film, television, or literary work), brainstorm possible solutions to problem areas, get live feedback regarding the direction of their material, clarify any points made in the coverage that may be unclear, and crystallize how to best move forward with the material.

To purchase a Coverage Consultation session, simply add the service to your cart and proceed to check out. Once you have placed your order online, you will be contacted by ScriptShark to set up the call, which ordinarily takes place within 10 days from date of purchase.

30-Minute Coverage Consultation Call FAQ  [+]

What is a Coverage Consultation?
Coverage Consultation is a phone consultation conducted with the analyst who constructed your coverage report, in which you can discuss the coverage your screenplay, teleplay or manuscript has received. During your consultation session, you may ask questions regarding comments made in your coverage, brainstorm possible solutions to problem areas identified in the report, get live feedback regarding the direction of your material, clarify any points made in the coverage that are unclear to you, and crystallize how to best move forward with the material.

Do I have to have purchased a coverage report prior to getting a consultation?
Yes. Your consultation is based on the analysts assessment of your material. It is important that they be familiar with the structure, story, and characters fueling your screenplay, so that they may be of assistance to you in deciding how to develop the material further.

Can I purchase a coverage consultation after I received my coverage?
Yes. However, because our analysts review a significant amount of material each week, we ask that your Coverage Consultation be purchased within 10 days from when your coverage was returned to you for review, to ensure that your material is still fresh in the analyst's mind.

If I already paid for coverage, why should I also pay for a consultation?
Purchasing a Coverage Consultation is not mandatory. Writers who purchase a Coverage Consultation are those who want to explore the information they received in the coverage report further, discuss solutions for trouble spots with an industry professional, and help determine how to best move forward with the development of their material.

So how does it work?
Once you order your Coverage Consultation, ScriptShark will contact your analyst, who will provide you with three possible times to conduct the call. ScriptShark will coordinate the scheduling of the session, and provide you and the analyst with a conference call number for the purposes of your call.

Can I call my analyst back if I have more questions after our Consultation?
No. In order to protect their privacy, you will not be provided with your analyst's contact information. However, you may purchase a second Coverage Consultation session if you feel that there are further details and ideas you would like to discuss.

If I disagree with the coverage I received, can I discuss that with my analyst?
Yes. This would be a perfect opportunity to ask your analyst what brought them to certain assessments regarding your material. Our analysts take many things, such as tone, structure, and execution, into consideration before they come to their conclusions, and it is important that you know what gave them their impressions, whether you agree with them or not.

Can I get my analyst to change their mind about my script during the consultation, and maybe give my script a better recommendation?
No. The report that the analyst has put together for you is based on their professional opinion and is well thought-out. Their assessment of your material is based solely on what they discerned from the page. It is your responsibility to make sure that your screenplay is coherent and clearly explained. However, if you explain to your analyst what you disagreed with in their report and why, they may be able to help you identify what is not coming off the page the way that you intended.

What if I only have a few questions, and not enough to fill an hour?
For this, a 30-minute session is perfect. In order to best capitalize on your time, make sure to prepare a list of questions for the analyst, and identify specific points in the coverage and/or material that you would like to discuss. Don't forget: Once the conversation gets going, it's amazing how quickly 30 minutes fly by!

Can I get a partial refund if I only use part of the time I purchased?
No. The Coverage Consultation sessions are sold in 30 and 60 minute increments, and it's your responsibility to use that time to its fullest.

Can I get a different analyst for my consultation than I did for my report?
No. In order for your consultation to be effective, the analyst with whom you have your session has to be closely familiar with your material, and the notes you were given in your coverage.

Can I select which analyst will do my coverage and consultation?
Yes. To do so, simply go to our Analysts page.
