Short Story Evaluation FAQ  [+]

Why would I want to pay anyone to evaluate my work?
Honest feedback is an invaluable tool for any writer, novice or professional. We find that many writers have people who are more than happy to read their work: Their parents. Their partners. Their friends. However, personal relations will rarely tell you what they really think of your work, even if they are capable of reading your short story with a discerning publishing eye. Unbiased, constructive evaluation from a professional evaluator allows you to receive sober and insightful evaluation from an individual vested in nothing but the improvement of your material.

Why should I get my short story evaluated before I send it to agents and publishers?
ScriptShark short story evaluation services prepare the writer for the publishing industry by providing industry-caliber evaluation from professional industry minds, the same sort of professional who would evaluate your short story in any agency, journalistic publishing environment, or publishing house, or, better yet, evaluate it for a short-story-collection book review.

What if I don't agree with the ScriptShark evaluation?
As the writer of the material, you are its champion. No one, no matter how much they like or dislike the material, will ever have your same exact vision of it. Therefore, it is rare that a writer agrees or disagrees with their evaluation from beginning to end. It is your job as the writer to identify the comments and suggestions that may assist you in strengthening your vision and crystallizing your short story or short story collection, and discard others which do not serve the story that you feel passionate to tell. As a rule of thumb, and whether comments are given by ScriptShark evaluator or a room full of publishers, we find that a writer usually accepts approx. 70% of suggestions, while 30% are discarded.

Serve No Whine:  A Bid to Restrict Producer Bashing to Modest Levels

May 08, 2012

I hereby and herein propose, forthwith, that any filmmaker wishing to complain about the conduct of the producers on their projects (that you’re not involved in) be allotted the same leeway, as to time and specificity on this topic, as is permisable when discussing events taking place within the confines of their bathrooms.  Good taste is what I'm suggesting.
