ScriptShark takes great pride in keeping its customers happy. We work hard to create analysis that goes above and beyond the call of duty. Our services aim to help you, as a writer, grow into a professional. Below are a few of the emails our customers have sent to us over the course of time.

Jay Bernzweig, ScriptShark Client:

I was a studio story analyst and later a production executive for many years, so I fully appreciate the high quality of the service I received from ScriptShark. Close friends in the movie business -- other writers, producers or execs -- are usually able to pinpoint problem areas in my screenplays, and steer me in a general direction for rewriting. But the ScriptShark analyses (apart from being on paper, which helps) have been significantly more detailed, carefully considered, and clearly articulated than most of the verbal feedback I have gotten from friend.

....................

George Mortensen, ScriptShark Client:
I just wanted to thank you for your hard work and your honest appraisal of my manuscript, Group 4. It is much appreciated. Although disappointed by your "Pass", I fully understand your reasoning. I felt your comments were honest, intelligent and professional. You gave me a fair and accurate insight into my story's potential and I feel my investment in your service was well spent. What was unexpected was your kind effort to educate me about a business I know little about. It shows that you are truly interested in both the writer and your craft. You should be very proud. Wishing you well in the future.

....................

Wallace Frist, ScriptShark Client:
I just wanted to say thanks for the coverage. Although a “pass” was received, I am glad I sent my script to ScriptShark for coverage. This particular script was sent to two different places for coverage. Your reader was very good in diagnosing my problems and even said that my script “runs a risk of being attacked by animal rights activists”. They were totally right. The other company’s coverage may have well come in all CAPS, because I could feel the person screaming at me. Anyway, thanks for the unbiased coverage of my script. I’ll be sending my next one your way as well.

....................

Akio Duffy, ScriptShark Client:
I first saw Ryan from Script Shark speak at the Los Angeles Screenwriting Expo, and impressed by his presentation, I submitted my script, The Banshee . After receiving a "consider" on the screenplay, Ryan personally contacted me and told me that he would send it out to some of his contacts. I was surprised to find that in less than a week, he called me to let me know that several managers and management companies were very interested and were ready to set up meetings with me. Shortly after this, I found myself in meetings with prominent players in the industry. During this time, Ryan was always friendly, supportive and available to answer any questions I had whenever I needed to talk to him. I really have to thank Ryan and Script Shark for their help and giving me these opportunities. I can't emphasize how encouraging it is to have someone like him who is truly passionate about helping new writers break into this business."

....................

Benjamin Magid, ScriptShark Client:
Every writer seeking admittance into the world of movies and television all start out with the same questions and problems. How do I get my work to the right people (producers, execs, agents, etc.) who will read my script? 1) You have a contact in the business, a friend of a friend who can get it to an agent. 2) Screenwriting competitions in hopes that you win and it gets sent out. 3) Blind submissions to agents and producers. While all three of these have potential, they are long shots at best. Most people do not have the contacts when they are starting out. Most screenwriting competitions are not set up to find quality material, rather to make money on submission fees. And with the amount of submissions they receive, your screenplay may be good, but either isn't the "best" or you get a reader who doesn't like that particular genre. Much of it is luck. And with blind submissions and query letters, 99% of the time you will receive a letter back stating that they do not take unsolicited material, or nothing at all. One more point on the above, and the most important point of all:

Everything is dependent on A WELL WRITTEN SCRIPT WITH A WELL THOUGHT OUT AND FRESH IDEA. There is a difference between a good story and a good movie, and the two are often not synonymous. I have tried all those approaches and then some. None worked. I had a good idea and a developed script which I thought had potential. Working in the business as a development exec., I often used Baseline-FilmTracker to find out about specs going out. I knew it to be a reputable company and more importantly, one that is highly regarded in the D world. I learned that they also had ScriptShark, a service that covers scripts, so I submitted my screenplay and received a CONSIDER.

That started my relationship with ScriptShark. They believed in the material and knew who to send it to, another important aspect of getting your script out there. It was sent to producers and agents who liked that type of material. I went on meetings and numerous calls from people who liked the work. One thing led to another and I got my first writing job and signed with a manager who is taking my script out to the town.

NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT SCRIPTSHARK.

There are two major benefits to the service. First is that your script is covered by industry readers with incredible experience and knowledge in determining where your strengths and flaws lie in all aspects of the script, and whether it Is a marketable piece of material. If it isn't ready yet, you have the chance to rewrite, develop further and get it to that point. This ties into the second benefit: ScriptShark will send it out to producers and agents, and also retains the material and will continue to send it out when opportunities arise. I have also found Ryan Williams an incredible asset outside of everything listed above. He stays in constant touch about possibilities as well as just checking to see what I'm working on and what I'm doing. I often call and e-mail him for advice and find it incredibly helpful. Without ScriptShark, I would be in the same place I was at the beginning, sending out my script with no advancement. ScriptShark and Ryan Williams got me inside. The rest is up to me.

....................

Kristen Bischoff, ScriptShark Client:
I just received my script coverage report and I have to say I am, surprisingly, very pleased. Although I received a pass - I was formerly a reader at the William Morris Agency and I am amazed at how clear, concise, and "on the money" the report was that I received from your service. I find it very hard to judge my own screenplays because it is difficult to determine what I show in the script and what is just other story information I have in my head! When I sent in my screenplay I knew that my story had some holes, and it really helped to see the way a reader interpreted the story to see what I need to work on. The comments and suggestions were excellent and really well worth the money - what a nice, pleasant surprise.

....................

Pamela Kay, ScriptShark Client:
I went to ScriptShark because I knew they had a great reputation and legitimate contacts in the business. The service was first rate-managers and agents read my scripts immediately and ScriptShark lined up meetings. They kept in contact with me throughout the process to answer my questions and prepare me for meetings (a fine art in Hollywood). I was able to interview with many representatives and chose to work with great people that I felt comfortable with. Without ScriptShark, I wouldn't have met my amazing manager, Sukee Chew. I don't know what I'd do without her! And Ryan at ScriptShark is someone I can always call if I need honest, knowledgeable advice. Later I won the Nicholl competition and I'm so thankful I already had representation through ScriptShark to guide me through the chaos that followed. To get into Hollywood you need someone to vouch for you. Someone people know. ScriptShark does that.

....................

Michael Tunison, ScriptShark Client:
It's only been two months since ScriptShark gave my screenplay "The Reaper" a "recommend," and in that time Ryan Williams has gotten the script to something like 16 agencies, management companies, and other Hollywood insiders. That's a level of access I never could have achieved marketing the script on my own. So far it has generated a meeting with one manager, while others have expressed interest in seeing more of my work.

During this process, Ryan has been readily available to answer my questions and keep me posted on his efforts. On a personal level, he's been very encouraging about the script's potential to move my screen- writing career forward, whether through an actual sale or just getting people interested in my writing. I don't know where this process will end up, but it's certainly \given me a much-needed boost in terms of gettingmy work out there.

Like many other writers, I initially had doubts about the idea of using a paid coverage/ referral service, but press stories I'd read about ScriptShark lead me to take a chance on the company. It's turned out to be one of the best moves I've made in terms of marketing my work, and I can't say enough good things about the help I've received from ScriptShark and Ryan Williams so far.

....................

Adam Barnes, ScriptShark Client:
My name is Adam Barnes. I have been an actor working in LA for the past five years. About a year ago, I started getting serious about script writing. I had written a few scripts, but I didn't really know what I was doing.

Don't kid yourself if you think it is easy.

I've have been told the fastest way to get anywhere out here is to find someone that has done it before and figure out how they did it. If you don't have someone giving you good advice and helping you along the way, it is almost impossible. That was one of my problems. I didn't have anyone qualified to help me. And the few people that I did know were so biased with their own narrow views that they never even gave my writing a shot. So, where do go to get an unbiased, objective, thorough opinion about your writing? Enter ScriptShark.

I have always been very against paid services for anything relating to the arts. As an actor I have thrown away thousands and thousand of dollars. So I was very reluctant to throw more money away. I had a buddy, who worked for one of the top agencies in town. He told me that he almost took a job with ScriptShark as a reader. He said they knew their stuff. So I tried it.

ScriptShark gave me professional coverage that was unbiased and realistic. They didn't sugar coat anything. But after everything was said and done, they saw something in my writing.

A few days later I got a call from one of their Executives. I was so impressed with his knowledge of the business and his no B.S. approach. He acted as an intermedium manager between me and other agents and managers. He had a surgical and calculating strategy.

A week later I signed with one of the top literary managers in town. I was immediately thrown into meetings with producers, studios, agencies…

So, here it is plain and simple. The system works. You are competing with millions and millions of other writers. You're stuff has to be that good. And someone has to be able to recognize it. ScriptShark can take you there.

....................

Robert Rosenthal, ScriptShark Client:
Here's what ScriptShark has done for me:
Over the past two years I've submitted five scripts to ScriptShark for coverage; my wife has submitted three. Although we never agree with all of the comments of the readers, they always manage to zero in on one or two weak areas that we hadn't seen on our own and which, once addressed, made for a stronger story. This is clear, concise script-doctoring at less than half the usual price!

We have also excerpted positive comments from the reader's coverage and used them in queries to producers to attract attention and separate us from the rest of the pack, even when the overall script received a "pass."

We have used several other script analysts and coverage services, but have not found any that delivered the kind of clear and accurate feedback on a consistent basis that ScriptShark has.

As for results, I've had three “considers,” one of which turned into an option with a major producer (with a six-figure buy price). When Ryan Williams took the helm at ScriptShark last year I e-mailed him asking what he could do to help promote my work, given my track record. The result was a trip out to LA during which I met with attorneys, agents and a manager-- all set up by Ryan. Needless to say, this is the sort of exposure you simply cannot wrangle on your own. And Ryan was there for me every step of the way, contacting me at the last minute to change meeting times, going over the meetings and my impressions of the players involved, and helping me develop an overall strategy for deciding on an agent. I felt like I had my own personal guide through the maze of Hollywood.

I cannot recommend Ryan and ScriptShark highly enough, especially for serious writers.

....................

Alex Harakis, ScriptShark Client:
Although many script review services are a waste of money, ScriptShark is the exception. Over the last year, their expert readers have offered us some truly constructive feedback, which has greatly benefited our subsequent rewrites.

Now ScriptShark is helping us to climb the sales hurdle, by proactively marketing our work to their list of professional contacts. With someone such as Ryan Williams acting as a dedicated introducing agent, ScriptShark has offered us direct access to key industry insiders – and thanks to ScriptShark, when we speak to these people, they take us seriously.

ScriptShark's process involves matching new writers – and their screenplays – with the appropriate agents and producers. ScriptShark's introducing agents are in a position to leverage their own established connections within the industry. They systematically work through a list of professional contacts, establishing the most relevant individuals and organizations in relation to a specific project. ScriptShark then recommends both the screenplay and its writer to the prospective buyers, and, more importantly, ensures that the buyers actually take the time to read the screenplay. If a buyer or agent is interested in either the project or its writer, ScriptShark will arrange for an introduction, providing the writer with an opportunity to establish a direct relationship with the buyer or agent. This process can result in an immediate sale, or, at the very least, give the writer the chance to establish a valuable list of industry contacts that may be approached with regards to subsequent screenplays. In addition, it gives the writer visibility amongst industry insiders, who may consider him for in-house projects and spec scripts already in development.

Chris Salisbury, ScriptShark Client:
How do I feel about ScriptShark? Let's just say that I feel like an up and coming prize fighter that's finally found a trainer that can really help me deliver that knock out punch. No more shady deals and underhanded tactics, no, this is the real thing and with a team that's a proven winner. After all, who's in your corner can make all the difference.

I'm fairly new to screenwriting, don't live in Southern California, no agent, and my cousins and uncles aren't connected in the Hollywood scene. Most would say, and often have, that I shouldn't even bother trying to break in. But I can honestly tell you that since I submitted my screenplay to ScriptShark, I feel like a legitimate contender now.

I'm having discussions with experienced producers and managers. That's right, me and the producer talking in length and detail about this character, and that plot point - of my script! ScriptShark is helping make the right connections with the right people. Real input and genuine feedback from those actually making movies, how much is that worth? The money I spent to submit my script seems inconsequential now, and the only regret is that I didn't send it to ScriptShark sooner.

Yes, there are a lot of online script reviewers, doctors, and resources out there. And we've all heard the Hollywood horror stories of unsuspecting writers having the rug, and their script, yanked out from under them - I know, I narrowly escaped from an option deal that would have been devastating. But at no time have I ever felt in jeopardy or skeptical about Scriptshark. How can you be when their team is responsive, courteous, and quick to produce tangible results? You could try somewhere else, but why bother? Not me, I've found my team, so look out because I'm on my way to the main event.

Roy Freirich, ScriptShark Client:
Just a note to tell you that ScriptShark works. I received many, many calls from the posting of "Framing Dexler" -- they never stopped. Luckily, Leslie Alyson at Raw Progressive was one of them, and they have optioned the screenplay. As well, many producers were willing to look at other screenplays of mine on the strength of "Framing Dexler," and talks are progressing on those. Thanks!

....................

Tom Fleishhacker, ScriptShark Client:
Mr. Ryan Williams is to be commended for his efforts on resurrecting my Christmas script 'Tis The Season . After taking over ScriptShark, he dusted off the project and has worked tremendously hard to get this story reintroduced to a whole new audience. He has worked tirelessly to promote it, as well. It has recently been read by Guardian Entertainment (in New York), Jehrico Entertainment, and Hallmark Entertainment. With Ryan's persistence, he had me rewrite this script and strive to make it more saleable. Anything that becomes of 'Tis The Season will certainly be attributed to ScriptShark's dedication.

....................

Craig Doyle, ScriptShark Client:
As a writer in Hollywood for over ten years, it's taken something as simple as the ScriptShark service to break open the door I was banging my head against for what seems like an eternity.  Since using ScriptShark, I have my feature being set up with a major producer, have phenomenal representation, CAA and Argosy Management, and developing film and television projects throughout town.  The objective evaluation not only gives you insight into where your script might or might not need work, but is capable of putting it in the hands of the right people (as opposed to knowing a guy who knows a guy on Bruckheimer's Hockey team)."

....................

Michael Valente, ScriptShark Client:
I wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I appreciate the attitudes and assistance I have constantly received from you and Scriptshark. As you know, this can be a tough, sometimes mean business, and no one should have to try to walk through it without help.

My first encounter with your group was with Baseline-FilmTracker. They provided coverage on a script of mine, but did not stop there. The script was a "pass", but I received personal encouragement without asking for it. I recently submitted another script to ScriptShark for coverage, and was disappointed by another "pass, with potential". When I wrote to you and asked for a review of the coverage, you not only complied, but again encouraged me, told me how tough your people were on coverage and that I should pay attention to the notes and keep trying. You even offered a discount on re-submittal, of which I took advantage. This time the script was rated, "consider", and soon you were talking to me about how you were going to help in my quest for representation.

Going back to my dealings with Alex at Baseline-Filmtracker, you guys have been the most supportive, encouraging and just plain decent people I have encountered in one place as long as I have been around the industry.  It all flies in the face of the cutthroat image this business wears on its sleeve.  I hope to make you proud that you decided to support my efforts. I truly feel you care what happens to me and to my work. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude. I hope to make you proud.

....................

Thomas Neeley, ScriptShark Client:
My experience with ScriptShark has been positive all-around. I sent them my first script not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised when Ryan Williams called me. He took a personal interest in me and my script. He was always accessible and ready to give me advice. Ryan introduced me to managers and an agent and helped me prepare for those meetings. We met beforehand and he walked me through the process. Ryan appreciated that I am unfamiliar with the way business works in Hollywood and he answered all my questions, no matter how basic. I always felt he was working for the best interests me and my script.

ScriptShark provided solid coverage which I used to revise my script. The service that ScriptShark and Ryan Williams provided exceeded my expectations. Sending my script to ScriptShark was a good decision and well worth it. I had been working in a vacuum for a year. They gave me the confidence to view my hobby as much more. I am currently working with a manager on a treatment and that wouldn't be possible with Ryan and ScriptShark.

....................

Thomas Firestone and Martin Meunier, Scriptshark Clients:
“Every week we hear about, yet another, spec script site that pops up with heavy-duty promises, like fame and fortune. My writing partner and I tried three of them, with three separate scripts, and sure enough, the true professionals surfaced and they are SCRIPTSHARK/IFILM. SCRIPTSHARK has given us, well beyond, our money's worth. Their coverage alone is well written, informative and constructive – regardless if you get a PASS, CONSIDER, or RECOMMEND. We've received a PASS from them, as well as a CONSIDER and in both cases the coverage has been helpful for our re-writes. The staff at ScriptShark is encouraging and keen to the current pulse of the industry. In just one week of being posted on their site, we've received as many requests to read our script as it took two hundred query letters. What's really cool, is that people are contacting US for a change, asking to read the script – that's priceless. We give ScriptShark and IFILM a RECOMMEND!”

....................

Tricia Hopper, ScriptShark Client:
I would like to thank you and the rest of the staff at ScriptShark for your support.  I was very impressed with the coverage on my script "Over the Edge".  I think the comments were insightful and to the point.  Obviously, the reader put a lot of thought into his critique.  The fee for the analysis was well worth it and the bonus was having my script put on the website. I have been contacted by several production companies, including Mindstorm and Bob Salerno who produces for Billy Bob Thornton.  I have also received calls regarding representation.  Your personal attention in the latter has been extremely helpful.  With the contacts I am making, I am sure it is just a matter of time before I have quality representation. On a final note, your enthusiasm for my writing helps keep me motivated.  I look forward to continuing my relationship with you on future scripts.

....................

Jamie Bussin, ScriptShark Client:
I can tell you that I received a "consider" from ScriptShark. As a result I now have a Hollywood manager. A producer is running with my next script. I was given a script to read by another production company and I may get a shot at a re-write. Previously I had no connections in the industry.

....................

Kyle Thornton, ScriptShark Client:
"I've have had some success with my screenplay before, but after being listed on ScriptShark's SpecMarket the amount of attention from MAJOR producers increased tenfold. In three months on the site, I signed a major option from a successful Hollywood producer. It was almost too easy."

....................

Paul Yates, ScriptShark Client:
My recommendation for ScriptShark is on behalf of the struggling souls out there who want to accelerate their transition to becoming professional writers. I can't easily tap into Hollywood's talent because I live abroad and worse, I'm teaching myself how to write by writing. That's where I have to thank Ryan Williams and his team. Not only did Ryan notice me re-hashing version after version of the same material he actually paid for me to speak with one of his senior readers to set me on the right path.

I don't have my pot of gold yet but the clouds have broken and the rainbow looks good.

Thank you ScriptShark for sinking your teeth into my work and ripping out the trash.

....................

Scott and Emily Norris, ScriptShark Clients:
Before taking our script to market, we first wanted to get coverage from a dependable reading service. We are pleased that we chose ScriptShark. Their coverage was thorough and professional, and since it was a favorable report, it gave us the confidence to begin marketing it and ourselves as writers.

Beyond that, Ryan Williams has passed the script to many of his contacts and featured it in e-mail announcements to a vast number of their subscribers. We have no doubt that we are on track to realizing our dreams as screenwriters, and ScriptShark has played a positive role in that journey.

....................

Max Lamkin, ScriptShark Client:
I just can't say enough good things about Ryan Williams . He has been very instrumental in helping me to foster several relationships around town. Even though I have yet to sell a script or make his company any money, he is always quick to return my calls and is never too busy to talk to me at length about my next move. I am certain that when I break though, Ryan will be one of the people that put me there.

....................

Daniel, ScriptShark Client:
Thanks for the quick response and the tip on the ScriptShark Library. It sounded as if your reader passed mainly because of the size of the project. It was great that he compared it to a Cameron/Emmerich project. I emailed part of the coverage to Roland Emmerich and I'll meet with him next month. It also opened a door to Bruckheimer and Lightstorm Entertainment whom I'll give it to after talking to Roland. I'll let you know what happens.

....................

Jessica Parenti, ScriptShark Client:
The coverage is great -- very helpful, thorough and concise without being condescending or insulting! Please express my sincere appreciation to the reader and to the entire staff at Script Shark.

....................

Katie, ScriptShark Client:
Thanks so much.  I'll post in the library w/ the comments you suggested.  Also wanted to let you know that I was singing Scriptshark's praises at the Newport Film Festival, for which I was a juror.  The reader's notes helped me immensely and I think you are providing a terrific service!

....................

Rick, ScriptShark Client:
A big thank you to “AS” for the wonderful notes on my submission, Hooligans ! I was provided with an honest critique that was dead on. AS also took the time to provide me with ideas on how and where to improve my work. This is my second time using ScriptShark and I am convinced that it is the best money I have ever spent on my writing addiction.
My wife wondered why I was not upset that my script was passed on. I explained that I felt great because after mailing my script to fifty people in Hollywood, I actually got it read and finally found out whether it was good or not. That is the real value of ScriptShark, it provides the answer to the big question – If my script were read, would it make the cut?
